QuixiCloud Sync (Android App) Privacy Policy

Introduction

This Privacy Policy specifically governs the use of the QuixiCloud Sync native Android application. This document outlines how the application accesses, collects, uses, and protects your data. By installing and using the QuixiCloud Sync app, you consent to the practices described below.

Core Privacy Principle: Zero-Knowledge Architecture

QuixiCloud Sync operates on a “Zero-Knowledge” and “End-to-End Encrypted” framework.
- Your Device, Your Rules: The application acts as a direct bridge between your Android device and your secure QuixiCloud vault (via WebDAV).
- Local Encryption: Your files are encrypted locally on your device before transmission. QuixiCloud (the company) cannot see, scan, analyze, sell, or index the contents of your backed-up photos, videos, or documents.

Data We Access and Why (Android Permissions)

To provide automated background synchronization, the QuixiCloud Sync app requires specific Android permissions. We only request permissions essential to the app’s core functionality:
- All Files Access (Storage): Required to scan your internal storage and SD card to locate media files (photos, videos, documents) for backup. We do not transmit your file directory to our servers; the index of your files remains exclusively on your local device.
- Notifications: Required by the Android operating system to maintain a persistent background service, ensuring your files sync reliably even when the app is closed.
- Battery / Ignore Battery Optimizations: Required to prevent the Android OS from terminating the backup process while your device is idle or sleeping.

What Data is Stored Locally vs. Remotely

Locally on your Device (The Sync Index): The app maintains a local Room Database (the “Sync Vault”) containing file names, sizes, modification dates, and MD5 hashes. This database is sandboxed by Android, never uploaded to our servers, and is permanently destroyed if you uninstall the application.
Remotely on QuixiCloud Servers: Only the encrypted, user-selected files are transmitted and stored on our high-performance infrastructure. We do not store unencrypted copies of your data.

Data Security & Encryption Standards

We implement rigorous technical measures to protect your data during transit and at rest:
- TLS 1.3: All connections between the app and our servers are secured using industry-standard TLS 1.3 encryption.
- Android Keystore: Your login credentials and WebDAV App Passwords are never stored in plain text. They are locked within the Android Keystore, protected by hardware-level AES-256 encryption.

Device-Isolated Vaults and Safe Storage

Isolation: If you use multiple devices on one QuixiCloud account, the app creates device-isolated “Vaults.” Data from your Android device will not conflict with data from other hardware.
Safe Storage Management: The app’s optional “Free Up Space” feature strictly verifies that a file has been successfully uploaded and matches the local MD5 hash before offering to delete the local original.

Data Sharing and Third Parties

Zero Third-Party Sharing: We do not sell, rent, or share any data collected by the QuixiCloud Sync app with third-party advertisers or data brokers.
Service Providers: Your encrypted files are stored on QuixiCloud infrastructure. We do not use third-party “middle-man” clouds for the Sync app’s data transfer.

Data Retention and Deletion

App Uninstallation: Uninstalling the QuixiCloud Sync app instantly destroys all local indexes, logs, and encrypted credentials stored on your device.
Cloud Data Deletion: Deleting a file from your local Android device does not automatically delete it from your QuixiCloud vault (by default, to prevent accidental data loss). You must manually delete files via the QuixiCloud Web Dashboard.

Children's Privacy

The QuixiCloud Sync app is not directed toward individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
