QuixiCloud Sync
Android User Documentation & Setup Guide
1. App Overview
Quixicloud Sync is a powerful, privacy-focused application that bridges your Android device directly to your personal QuixiNode or WebDAV-compatible server. It automatically backs up your photos, videos, and files without using a third-party "middle-man" cloud.
Main Features:
- Automatic & Manual Backups: Choose to sync your entire device, just the camera, or specific folders.
- Direct-to-Server Sync: Your data moves directly to your encrypted QuixiCloud vault. We use end-to-end encryption so that even we cannot see your files.
- Intelligent Sync Engine: The app waits for the right conditions (Wi-Fi, charging) to sync, saving your battery and data.
- Device-Isolated Vaults: Safely back up multiple phones (e.g., Pixel 8 and Galaxy S24) to one account without file conflicts.
2. Getting Started
Critical Permissions:
For the background engine to work flawlessly, you must grant the following:
- All Files Access: Allows the app to find and back up photos/videos from internal memory and SD cards.
- Notifications: Required by Android to keep the background sync engine active.
- Ignore Battery Optimizations: To ensure backups aren't killed by Android's 'Doze' mode, please allow QuixiCloud to run without battery restrictions.
How to Get Your Login Credentials:
- Log into the Web Dashboard: Open QuixiCloud in your desktop or mobile browser.
- Open Connect & Mount: Look at the left-side menu dashboard and click the Connect & Mount option.
- Create an App Password: Click the button to create a new account/annotation.
- Give the annotation a name (e.g., "Android Phone").
- Select your default root folder (leave as
/to sync to your main drive).
- Enter Details in the App: The server will generate a secure table with your new credentials. Type these into the Android app:
- Server URL:
https://inr.quixicloud.com/dav - Username: Your QuixiCloud registered email.
- Password: The newly generated 26-character password (e.g.,
B6NQk3mX1Z...).
- Server URL:
Security Tip: From your web dashboard, you can manage these connections at any time under the "Action" tab to turn on Read-Only mode or delete the password entirely if a device is lost.
3. Feature Guide
The Dashboard
Your main hub providing an at-a-glance overview of backup status, including total percentage secured, remaining files, and a visual storage grid (Photos, Videos, Audio, Other).
Note: QuixiCloud only deletes local files after it has verified the file's hash (MD5) strictly matches the version securely stored in your cloud vault.
Folder+ Tab (Sync Modes)
- Full Device Sync: Backs up all media files on your phone and SD card.
- Mobile Photos Sync: Only backs up your camera folder (DCIM/Camera).
- Manual Folder Sync: Choose specific folders for backup.
4. Troubleshooting & FAQ
Common Sync Statuses
- "Server Unreachable": The app can't find your QuixiNode server. It will automatically retry later.
- "Sync is Paused": Check your notifications. Usually waiting for Wi-Fi or Charger based on your Settings.
To save battery and give you time to delete bad shots, the app waits 30 minutes after a photo burst to begin syncing. Tap Start Sync Now to force an immediate backup.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Is my data secure? Yes. Your credentials are encrypted at rest using the Android Keystore, and files are protected via End-to-End Encryption.
- Can I use it offline? Yes. The app queues file changes and resumes uploads the moment you reconnect.
-
If I delete a photo from my phone, is it deleted from QuixiCloud?
No. By default, QuixiCloud acts as a true "safety net" backup. Deleting a file locally on your Android device will not remove it from your cloud vault. You must manually delete it from the Web Dashboard if you want it gone permanently. -
Why don't I see the "Connect & Mount" option in my web dashboard?
The Native Auto-Sync app and the "Connect & Mount" WebDAV features are exclusive to our Premium Yearly Plans. If you are on a free tier, you will need to upgrade your account to unlock these features. -
My app says "Sync Paused" every morning. How do I fix this?
This is usually caused by Android's aggressive battery management putting background apps to sleep overnight. Go to your phone's Settings > Apps > QuixiCloud Sync > Battery, and change the setting to "Unrestricted" or "Don't Optimize." -
Will backing up my 4K videos use up all my mobile data?
Not unless you tell it to. By default, the app is set to "Wi-Fi Only" for automatic backups. You can change this in the app's Settings tab if you have an unlimited mobile data plan and want real-time syncing on the go. -
Are there any limits on the file size I can upload from my phone?
No. QuixiCloud has absolutely zero individual file size restrictions. Whether it’s a 1MB PDF or a massive 50GB raw video project, the Native App will sync it smoothly in the background, provided you have enough total storage space in your plan.
